Dive Western Australia
The book Dive Western Australia was self published in 1992 by me (Jeff Mullins). It has now been out of print for some years, so I decided to make it available as a free download for anyone interested in what is now an outdated book as far as dive facilities along the West Australian coast, but the dive site information is still relevant in many locations.
It can also serve as a reminder for all the people that keep telling me about the terrible dive conditions they face at home in Australia. That they struggle to to take good photos in the horrendous conditions. Although I currently immerse myself in the tropical seas of Indonesia, this book was compiled after 20 years of diving all along the West Australian coast, on what I believe is one of the windiest and most inhospitable pieces of coastline in Australia.
It's also where I learnt to take underwater photos with a 6x6 underwater version of a box brownie film camera, that gave me only 12 opportunities (10 if two flash bulbs didn't fire) per dive. It was in doing this that I learnt what the great American landscape photographer Ansell Adams was talking about when he stated in the early 1900's that "The single most important component of a camera.... is the twelve inches behind it".
It doesn't matter what camera your shooting with, its the person behind it that counts!
