The dry season is now well underway in Tulamben and we are now experiencing cool nights and windy days, clear cool water. We are also seeing nice critters at our favorite dive sites. This week we found a beautiful yellow lionfish. (Photo taken with an Olympus PEN E-PL2 camera)

Turtle & Fusiliers We are just back from another fantastic trip to Komodo. The reefs of Komodo never cease to amaze us with so many diverse fish & critters. We laid in a gully watching 14 manta's cruise past for half an hour. Swam among turtles and schooling fusiliers. Were surrounded by schooling trevally and surgeonfish so dense that the sun was blocked out from above. We explored a muck diving site at night and found large solar powered nudibranchs feeding on algae. Then picked around at a creek entrance and found more nudibranchs than could be imagined.....Komodo truly is AMAZING! 21st April & 5th May 2012
These two seemingly insignificant dates in 2012 marked the passing of two legends of our oceans:
Our Live Aboard Underwater Photo trips for 2012 are now all full. Please contact us if you would like to join a trip to Komodo, North Sulawesi or one of our Exploratory trips in 2013. We left Tulamben during December 2011, just as the seasonal rains arrived. For weeks prior we had enjoyed flat calm seas and the largest influx of nudibranchs we have seen in years. Many were mating or laying eggs. These three were seen in the shallows of Seraya Secrets dive site, a site that always has something new to see. We have just arrived back in Bali from two of our 12 day North Sulawesi Live-Aboard Photo Trips. Our guests were treated with fantastic dive sites with exotic creatures on most dives. Some of our dives around Bangka Island were simply awesome; Including the one where I took the photo on the left. We dived at sunset and the fish life combined with the beautiful soft coral scenery, was nothing short of spectacular ! We have just added a range of Underwater Photo Accessories to our website. These are all QUALITY products that have been manufactured to meet the needs of u/w photographers. We use theses accessories ourselves and will add more as we gauge peoples needs. The popularity of our Live-Aboard Underwater Photography Trips in Indonesia has been almost unbelieveable! All of our trips for 2011 have sold-out within days of release. For 2012 we ask that you contact us if you would like to be on our early release list to be updated on trips the minute they are released. |
